Professional Biography: Owen Likely

I am an Arts Administrator, having most recently worked for Norwegian Cruise Line as a Shipboard HR Operations Specialist. Originally from Belle Mead, New Jersey, I grew up seeing Broadway shows with my family, which is where my lifelong love for theatre first began. I started acting in school and community theatre productions at a young age before attending SUNY College at Oneonta, where I initially majored in Dietetics before shifting my focus entirely to Theatre.

Early Career & Theatre Management: Immediately after college, I worked for the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival as a Company Management Production Assistant. From there, I traveled to Chelsea, Michigan, to participate in the Purple Rose Theatre Company's Apprentice Program. During my time there, I made my professional acting debut playing my dream role—a Zombie in the world premiere of 2AZ by Michael Brian Ogden.

I soon returned to New Jersey to work as a Company Management Assistant for the Tony Award-winning McCarter Theatre Center, and then went on to serve as the Assistant Company Manager and Assistant Stage Manager for Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany, NY. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked as a General Management Assistant for Work Light Productions, helping to produce and manage national tours, including serving as the Assistant General Manager for the 2019 national tours of Bandstand and Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.

Norwegian Cruise Line: Recently, I spent two years traveling the world with Norwegian Cruise Line as an onboard Theatrical Operations Manager. In that role, I acted as a ship officer and oversaw the entirety of the ship’s theater department and productions. I now reside in Tampa, Florida, where I continue my work with Norwegian Creative Studios. In my current HR operations role, I onboard new crew members for the production show department by processing their background checks, medical evaluations, and travel visas.

Conclusion: Throughout my career, I have had the incredible opportunity to work with well-known artists such as Jeff Daniels, Dylan McDermott, George Wendt, Christine Ebersole, Cleavant Derricks, Gordon Greenberg, and Taylor Dayne. Whatever the job entails, I always bring passion, patience, and determination to my role.
